The Right Of Way/The Truth About Youth
Loretta Young is the star attraction in this pair of pre-Code dramas from 1930. Filming them both at the tender age of 17, Loretta Young was already an experienced cinema siren, and her ambitions were showing. Not content to rely on her abundant natural charms, Loretta brought wit and sensitivity to her roles, crafting an indelible character each time. In The Right of Way she plays the love interest for Conrad Nagel’s performance as infamous amnesiac lawyer Charles “Beauty” Steele, in this adaptation of the book by Sir Gilbert Parker. While in The Truth About Youth, Loretta Young plays the cast-off intended of a wastrel lad who has fallen under the spell of Kara, a bewitching cabaret singer ably played by fellow screen siren Myrna Loy.
