Academy Award winner Clark Gable stars with Marion Davies in this romantic musical comedy about a boxer and a Broadway starlet whose handlers concoct a romance as a publicity stunt despite the bitter private animosity between Cain and Mabel. Publicist Aloysius K. Reilly (Roscoe Karns) devises what he considers a brilliant plan to promote Mabel O'Dare's (Davies) new show: He fabricates a story that Mabel and championship boxer Larry Cain (Gable) are secretly in love. Affectionate in public but feuding in private, these two defy all logic--they fall in love and dream of abandoning their careers. Now, the lovers' handlers must devise another plan: To get the couple to feud again.
